Radicans is originally from South Africa, but today it is produced and enjoyed all over the world. In English it is also called 'red carpet' however here by us in Denmark that does not make much sense since the leaves are a very crisp green when they are ready for sale.
In other parts of the world, is this name more suited as the leaves turns red, because of the sun. This will also happen here in the nordics during the summer, if the radicans are allowed to stay outside and

Crassula radicans is very suited for decorations by your front door solitary or as a part of a nice easter or spring arrangement. Radicans are very suitable together with bulb plants etc. as they also tolerate lower temperatures and don’t need much watering.
It can also be used as decorations for your easter table. Often seen in creative decorations with eggshells etc and can then be placed outdoors afterwards. Even after the flowers are gone, please don’t throw it away - they will continue to be very decorative throughout the summer, the leaves turning red.
The flowers are on stems at various heights and at first glance they look like a singular ball shape, however by zooming in you find it consists of many smaller white trumpet shaped flowers. Since individual flowers develop differently, the flower has a very long lifespan from the first of the flowers are showing white until all are them are in full bloom, until finally all have turned brown.
And as the foliage also changes during the season, it is a plant in constant development. When the temperature drops, and there is a risk of frost during the night, please take the radicans inside and store it until next spring where you can enjoy it once more. Optimal storage is with light and cooler temperatures such as a sunroom or conservatory.

Plants have many ways to propagate, for the radicans they discard some of their leaves and these will then grow into new plants. This is a practice often seen with succulents, as one leave can start a whole new plant.
This means when you are handling your plants; transporting them or planting them into new containers, some leaves will probably fall of. However, the plant has plenty so it wont look bad and it is not because it is ill, it is only trying to expand by starting new plants.
Try putting the leaves under the original plant as it will form a decorative layer of new growth or try putting them i a little pot, just leave them on top, and give them a dash of water now and then. You will then be able to follow along in the fascinating world of succulents.
